Milwaukee Jewish Federation has launched a “Student to Student” program, an initiative that brings Jewish and non-Jewish teens together.
“The program is an opportunity to empower students to educate their peers in a safe environment,” said Dalilah Bernier, director of teen initiatives for Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
Jewish students already have conversations with their non-Jewish peers in their daily lives. The “Student to Student” program offers an opportunity for students to feel strengthened in today’s environment, Bernier said.
“Student to Student” is a collaboration of the Coalition for Jewish Learning,
the Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center and the Jewish Community Relations Council. “Student to Student” is already operated in 25 cities across the county, and Milwaukee is the latest edition, Bernier said.
Also, Milwaukee Jewish Federation is continuing to operate The Milwaukee Jewish Teen Philanthropy Board. Students attend sessions centered around grant-making, non-profit functions, and the philanthropic model through a Jewish lens. The idea is that students get to feel they are creating a positive impact in the community.
The deadline to apply for The Milwaukee Jewish Teen Philanthropy Board is Sept. 13, 2024. The deadline to apply for “Student to Student” is Aug. 29, 2024.
