She had a great eye for design and created exceptional beauty in her home and magnificent backyard. After raising her children, she graduated college at age 47 and built a thriving interior design business in Milwaukee.

Toby left every community she was part of better than she found it.

She cherished her lifelong circle of friends and family, who remember her as a legendary party host and prolific baker who always elevated celebrations and events. She created magical Milwaukee summers and holidays for her grandchildren and took great joy in the time she spent with them. She was devoted to her neighbors, who became her close friends and support system.

Toby was a passionate patron of the arts and a great supporter of the Milwaukee arts and sports community. She was a regular fixture (with her friends) at the theater, concert events, and Bucks games for many years. She was a dedicated volunteer and supporter of many social causes, including senior care, mental health advocacy, and charities supporting families in the Milwaukee community.

Toby was a lover of animals, especially her dogs who brought her much comfort and happiness throughout the years.

The Recht Family is deeply grateful to Toby’s caregivers whose thoughtfulness and dedication improved the quality of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jewish Community Pantry, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Wisconsin Humane Society are appreciated.
